Minsk: Belarus will open its embassy in North Korea by August 1, a Belarusian news report revealed Thursday. The move is part of President Alexander Lukashenko's recent visit to North Korea.
According to Yonhap News Agency, a resolution for establishing the embassy was signed by Belarusian Prime Minister Aleksandr Turchin. This action follows the president's directive after his official visit to North Korea. Lukashenko's visit occurred from March 25-26, during which he met with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. The two leaders signed a treaty focusing on friendship and cooperation, aiming to enhance bilateral relations.
The strengthening of ties between North Korea and Belarus appears to be influenced by their mutual support for Russia amidst its ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
