Acting President Pays Tribute to Late Pope Francis at Seoul Memorial

Seoul: Acting President Han Duck-soo visited the memorial altar for the late Pope Francis on Tuesday to pay tribute to the Catholic Church leader, honoring his dedication to the poor and marginalized.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Han expressed that the pope left a profound spiritual teaching and legacy of faith to the Catholic Church and believers around the world. He made these remarks after offering incense at the memorial altar set up at Myeongdong Cathedral in central Seoul.

Han further conveyed deep gratitude and condolences to the late Pope Francis, acknowledging his humble lifestyle and commitment to love for the poor and socially marginalized. In a condolence message sent to Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the Vatican's secretary of state, on Monday, Han emphasized that the South Korean government and its people share the sorrow with Catholics around the world.

The pontiff passed away on Monday at the age of 88 at his residence in the Vatican's Casa Santa Marta.
