Access to National Assembly Blocked After Declaration of Martial Law.

Seoul: Access to the National Assembly compound was blocked by parliamentary guards and the police after President Yoon Suk Yeol declared emergency martial law Tuesday. According to Yonhap News Agency, as of 11:30 p.m., guards and police officers were stationed along the National Assembly gates, allowing entry only to lawmakers, parliamentary staff, and accredited reporters after an ID check. This heightened security measure followed the President's unexpected declaration, aiming to maintain order and security within the legislative premises. Dozens of citizens gathered in front of the Assembly following Yoon's declaration of martial law, leading to scuffles between them and the police. The situation outside the compound grew tense as demonstrators voiced their concerns and clashed with law enforcement officers tasked with securing the area. The authorities implemented these restrictions as a precautionary response to ensure the safety of those inside the National Assembly and to prevent potential disruptio ns.
