Seoul: Access to several major North Korean websites, including those of state media and the foreign ministry, was temporarily disrupted Saturday morning for reasons that remain unknown. The outages affected notable sites such as the Korean Central News Agency, the Rodong Sinmun newspaper, the foreign ministry, and the national air carrier Air Koryo.
According to Yonhap News Agency, connections to these websites were restored by 3:50 p.m. after experiencing several hours of instability. The precise cause of the disruption was not immediately confirmed, but similar setbacks have occurred in the past.
In January 2022, a significant outage of North Korea's major websites was reported, believed to have been caused by a distributed denial-of-service attack. During that incident, internet access in the North was disrupted for approximately six hours.
