Seoul: The 2026 South Korean baseball season is set to kick off on March 28, marking the beginning of another highly anticipated campaign in the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO). All 10 clubs will be in action on the opening day.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the KBO announced that the defending Korean Series champions, LG Twins, will face off against the KT Wiz at Jamsil Baseball Stadium in Seoul. This match will mark a significant event as Kim Hyun-soo returns to Seoul, having recently signed with the Wiz after leading the Twins to the championship and securing the Korean Series MVP award.

In other matches, the Hanwha Eagles, last year's Korean Series runners-up, will play against the Kiwoom Heroes at the Daejeon Hanwha Life Ballpark in Daejeon. The SSG Landers are set to host the Kia Tigers at Incheon SSG Landers Field, located just west of Seoul. Meanwhile, the Samsung Lions will welcome the Lotte Giants to Daegu Samsung Lions Park in Daegu. In Changwon, the NC Dinos will compete against the Doosan Bears. All five games are scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.

Teams will participate in a total of 144 games this season. Since 2023, the KBO has implemented a schedule where teams play 73 home games one year and 73 road games the next. For the 2026 season, the Twins, Lions, Dinos, Tigers, and Heroes will enjoy 73 home games and 71 away games.

The KBO also announced that the All-Star break will take place from July 10 to July 15, with the All-Star Game scheduled for July 11. In the previous season, KBO set an attendance record for the second consecutive year, reaching 12.31 million, surpassing the 2024 record of 10.88 million. Six clubs managed to attract over a million fans at home games, with the Lions setting an all-time record with 1.64 million attendees.
