Seoul: LG Electronics Inc. announced a strategic partnership with Microsoft Corp. aimed at enhancing the gaming content available on its smart TVs.
According to Yonhap News Agency, LG Electronics revealed that the collaboration will bring additional Xbox games, including the Harry Potter-themed "Hogwarts Legacy," to subscribers of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate via LG TV's AI webOS platform. However, the company has not disclosed a specific launch date for these new Xbox games.
Currently, LG Electronics offers approximately 4,000 games through its AI webOS gaming platform worldwide. The partnership with Microsoft reflects LG's strategy to expand the range of content and services available on AI webOS, as stated by a company spokesperson.
In a related development in September, LG Electronics announced an investment of over 1 trillion won (approximately US$740 million) to significantly enhance its webOS platform and associated businesses. The company envisions AI webOS as a vehicle to transition from a consumer electronics manufacturer to a "smart life solutions provider."
