Seoul: Woori Financial Group Inc. announced on Friday that its annual net profit for 2025 rose by 1.8 percent compared to the previous year, reaching a near all-time high, primarily due to strong non-interest income. The financial group reported a net profit of 3.14 trillion won (US$2.14 billion) for the year, an increase from 3.09 trillion won in the prior year, as detailed in a regulatory filing.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the 2025 net profit figure is nearly equivalent to the company's record high of 3.14 trillion won achieved in 2022. The result is considered "effectively the highest on record," as the company factored in 51.5 billion won in provisions related to fines over alleged collusion concerning loan-to-value (LTV) ratios, as stated by company officials.
The group's annual net interest income saw a 1.6 percent increase, reaching 9.03 trillion won. Meanwhile, non-interest income experienced a significant rise of 23.7 percent, totaling 1.93 trillion won. A company official attributed the growth in non-interest income to an increase in fee income following the company's transition into a comprehensive financial group, along with gains in securities, foreign exchange, and insurance-related businesses.
