White House Announces Summit and Luncheon Between President Trump and South Korean Leader Lee

Washington: The White House officially announced plans for a summit and luncheon between President Donald Trump and South Korean President Lee Jae Myung. The announcement came as President Lee arrived in Washington on Sunday for this significant diplomatic meeting.

According to Yonhap News Agency, President Trump is scheduled to welcome President Lee at the White House on Monday at noon, Washington time. The leaders will then proceed to a bilateral meeting at the Oval Office 15 minutes later. Following their discussions, they will attend a bilateral lunch at the Cabinet Room at 12:45 p.m. The White House had previously confirmed the meeting but had not released detailed plans until now.

The summit is expected to focus on pressing topics including security and trade, amidst efforts by the Trump administration to "modernize" the alliance between the United States and South Korea. This meeting comes at a critical time as both nations navigate the challenges posed by an increasingly assertive China.
