Seoul: The unification ministry announced the production of an online documentary series designed to enhance public understanding of Rodong Sinmun, North Korea's principal newspaper. This initiative is part of the government's strategy to increase public access to North Korean media content.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the series, titled "Reading Rodong Sinmun," consists of five parts, with the first episode already available on the ministry's official YouTube channel. The remaining episodes will be released sequentially in the upcoming weeks. The premiere episode includes insights from Lim Eul-chul, a professor at the Institute for Far Eastern Studies of Kyungnam University, who provides an overview of the newspaper affiliated with the ruling Workers' Party of Korea.
Additionally, the series will feature contributions from former Unification Minister Kang In-duk, notable for his involvement in the working-level negotiations for the July 4 inter-Korean Joint Statement in 1972. The unification ministry anticipates that the series will foster an objective understanding of Rodong Sinmun and stimulate broader public interest in North Korea and Korean Peninsula-related issues.
