Seoul: Unification Minister Chung Dong-young has called for the reopening of stalled inter-Korean exchanges and cooperation, emphasizing the government's commitment to reengage North Korea. Chung made these remarks during a meeting with Na Sang-ho, the executive leader of Won Buddhism, as North Korea continues to ignore Seoul's invitations for dialogue.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Chung stated that the government intends to make significant efforts to mark 2026 as a turning point for peaceful coexistence with North Korea. He highlighted the importance of resuming inter-Korean exchanges, noting the significance of the date marking seven years since the last talks between the two Koreas occurred during a sports-related meeting on December 18, 2018.

Na Sang-ho expressed optimism about a potential breakthrough in inter-Korean relations during Chung's tenure. He pledged to facilitate engagement with North Korean religious entities as a means to advance inter-Korean relations.
