Seoul: The United States has announced plans to impose secondary sanctions on Iran, specifically targeting digital assets, technology, gold, aviation, and shipping. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent outlined the initiative, labeled "Operation Economic Outcast," during a press conference. The campaign aims to cut off Iran's economic connections and reduce its ability to sustain its current regime.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Secretary Bessent emphasized the U.S. commitment to using its economic power to isolate Iran. He warned that any form of economic engagement with Iran could result in severe repercussions for those involved, highlighting that "no one is above the reach of U.S. sanctions."

Bessent further elaborated that the goal is to dismantle the financial networks supporting Tehran, ensuring that Iran is left without economic allies.
