Alexandria: South Korean coffee chain Twosome Place announced on Thursday its plans to enter the U.S. market next month, marking its initial foray into a major overseas market.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Twosome Place will inaugurate its first overseas outlet in Alexandria, Virginia, in October. The company plans to expand its presence in the DMV area, which includes Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia. This strategic move is part of the company's broader plan to penetrate other major U.S. cities and establish itself as a prominent brand in the United States, leveraging its 25 years of experience in South Korea's food and beverage industry.
Chief Executive Moon Young-ju stated, "The U.S. will be our first stage, and the opening of our first Alexandria store will mark the beginning of a new chapter in Twosome's global journey." The company plans to integrate its expertise in coffee-and-dessert pairings with Korean flavors, while also considering local consumer preferences to deliver products and experiences customized for the U.S. market.
Twosome Place, founded in 2002, currently operates 1,750 outlets in South Korea. It is fully owned by the global investment firm Carlyle Group.
