Washington: U.S. President Donald Trump stated Wednesday that the ongoing conflict with Iran will conclude "soon," citing that there is "practically nothing left to target." His comments come as global concerns mount over the war's impact on oil prices and the wider economy.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Trump shared these remarks during a five-minute phone interview with Axios. The U.S. military operation, named "Operation Epic Fury," is currently in its 12th day. The operation aims to dismantle Iran's missile capabilities, naval forces, and any potential nuclear arms development.

Trump was quoted by Axios, saying, "Any time I want it to end, it will end." Adm. Brad Cooper, commander of U.S. Central Command, revealed in a video on X that the U.S. military has targeted more than 5,500 sites in Iran, including over 60 naval vessels, since the operation began on February 28.

During the interview, Trump emphasized that the war effort is proceeding "great" and noted, "We are way ahead of the timetable. We have done more damage than we thought possible, even in the original six-week period."

Furthermore, Trump remarked that Iran is facing retribution for "47 years of death and destruction they caused," asserting, "This is payback. They will not get off that easy."
