Washington: U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that the conflict with Iran would conclude "soon," citing a lack of remaining targets. This statement comes amid ongoing concerns about the war's impact on oil prices and the global economy.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Trump made these remarks during a five-minute phone interview with Axios. The U.S. military operation, known as "Operation Epic Fury," has been underway for 12 days, focusing on dismantling Iran's missile capabilities, naval forces, and nuclear pathways. Trump asserted his control over the situation, stating, "Any time I want it to end, it will end."

Adm. Brad Cooper, commander of U.S. Central Command, shared in a video on X that the U.S. military has targeted over 5,500 sites in Iran, including more than 60 ships, since the operation began on February 28. Trump emphasized that the military campaign is progressing well and ahead of schedule, having achieved significant damage beyond initial expectations.

The President also remarked that the conflict serves as retribution for Iran's decades of "death and destruction," declaring, "This is payback. They will not get off that easy." He highlighted the U.S. military's success in eliminating nearly all of Iran's mine-laying ships in a single night, underscoring the effectiveness of the operation.

Trump further noted the severe losses suffered by Iran, stating that their Navy and Air Force have been decimated. He claimed that Iran now lacks anti-aircraft capabilities, radar, and leadership, emphasizing the potential for even greater damage if necessary.
