Seoul: South Korea’s trade watchdog has made a final decision to impose anti-dumping tariffs on fiberboard imports from Thailand, highlighting the impact on the local industry.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the Korea Trade Commission (KTC) will recommend that the Ministry of Economy and Finance enforce tariffs ranging from 15.29 to 22.44 percent on Thai fiberboard imports for the next five years. This measure targets imports of fiberboard made from wood and other ligneous materials from Thailand.

The KTC has also decided to extend the imposition of a 43.58 percent anti-dumping tariff on butyl glycol ether imports from Saudi Arabia for an additional five years. Butyl glycol ether is a liquid chemical commonly used as a cleaning agent.

In addition, the commission made a preliminary decision to suggest anti-dumping duties of up to 19.17 percent on Chinese imports of butyl acrylate products. These products are primarily used in the manufacturing of plastics, paints, and coatings.
