Seoul: "The Scandal," an eagerly anticipated historic Korean romance drama starring renowned actors Son Ye-jin and Ji Chang-wook, is set to premiere on Netflix next month. The streaming platform announced Tuesday that the series will be available to viewers starting September 18.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the Netflix original series is a remake of the acclaimed Korean film "Untold Scandal" from 2003, which featured prominent actors Bae Yong-joon, Jeon Do-yeon, and Lee Mi-sook. The original film was inspired by the classic 1782 novel "Dangerous Liaisons" by French writer Pierre Choderlos de Laclos, and it was reimagined within the historical context of the Joseon Dynasty, which spanned from 1392 to 1910.
The series is directed by Jung Ji-woo, known for his work on popular Korean films such as "Eungyo" (2012) and "Tune in for Love" (2019). His direction is expected to bring a fresh perspective to this adaptation, maintaining the intricate narrative while exploring the cultural backdrop of the Joseon era. The collaboration between the talented cast and the experienced director is anticipated to captivate audiences worldwide.
