At the ASEAN-Japan meeting, Thailand proposed 3 approaches to increase cooperation between each other, focusing on digital, green energy, and innovation. The Prime Minister believes that if these 3 approaches are seriously developed, Thailand will definitely develop in every dimension. Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, Prime Minister, along with leaders and representatives of ASEAN members, met with Mr. Shigeru Ishiba, Prime Minister of Japan, to attend the 27th ASEAN-Japan Summit. Mr. Jirayu Huangsap, Spokesperson of the Prime Minister's Office, summarized the important points as follows: Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, Prime Minister, congratulated Mr. Shigeru Ishiba on the occasion of assuming the position of Prime Minister. Japan is a trusted ally of ASEAN, with relations for more than half a century and playing an important role in promoting peace, security and economic development in this region. Therefore, ASEAN and Japan will accelerate the strengthening of their relations through the promotion of a compreh ensive strategic partnership of 3 aspects as follows: First, 'Accelerating Digital Transformation'. Thailand promotes Japan's participation in emerging digital fields such as artificial intelligence (AI) and e-commerce, which are important parts of digital transformation. In addition, ASEAN and Japan should enhance cooperation in developing and reskilling MSMEs, as well as providing MSMEs with opportunities to access new markets. However, rapid development of technology brings many benefits to citizens, but also opens up opportunities for misuse. Therefore, ASEAN and Japan should work together to promote cybersecurity and combat cybercrime more, through the ASEAN-Japan Cooperation Center to develop cybersecurity personnel. Second, 'Promoting the transition to green energy', Prime Minister Paethongtarn emphasized the government's aspiration to promote clean energy production and environmentally friendly vehicles in the region, and expressed her delight at the implementation of the ASEAN-Japan Co-Creation Ini tiative for the Next-Generation Automotive Industry. Thailand hopes to further cooperate at the Asia Zero Emission Community to drive the transition to new energy models in the region. For the third, 'Driving Economic Growth with Innovation', the Prime Minister saw that innovation is one of the important drivers of economic and industrial change. Thailand thanked Japan for supporting the increase in cooperation in science, technology and innovation, including the exchange of research, and hoped for further cooperation in agricultural technology, food and adding value to local products through the further drive of innovation. He believed that if there is development according to these three frameworks, Thailand will develop more quickly. Source: Thai News Agency
