Seoul: The National Intelligence Service (NIS) has initiated a 24-hour emergency response team to monitor the unfolding situation in the Middle East after U.S.-Israeli military actions against Iran. This initiative aims to facilitate the safe evacuation of nationals from the region, as confirmed by officials.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the NIS is collaborating with other intelligence agencies from allied countries to keep a close watch on the developments, following the recent attacks by the United States and Israel. These attacks resulted in the death of Iran's supreme leader and led to retaliatory strikes on U.S. bases located in the Middle East.

Officials have also indicated that the NIS is actively tracking potential supply chain risks and providing necessary information to relevant government entities. This includes assessing the current situation in sectors such as energy, logistics, defense manufacturing, and shipbuilding, especially after the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

In response to the attack on Iran that occurred last Saturday, the NIS established a task force under the leadership of its director. This task force convenes daily to conduct emergency situation assessments, as stated by officials.
