Milan: On a quiet Sunday in the medal race for South Korea at the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics, one noteworthy performance came from the oval, where speed skater Lee Na-hyun posted her second top-10 finish. Lee, 20, ended up in 10th place in the women's 500 meters with a time of 37.86 seconds at Milano Speed Skating Stadium in Milan. She had earlier ended up in ninth place in 1,000m in her Winter Games debut.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Kim Min-sun, another South Korean in the 500m, finished 14th in 38.01 seconds at her third Olympic Games. Lee posted the eighth-fastest start in the opening 100m split with 10.47 seconds before losing steam over the final stretch.

Also on Sunday, the women's curling team defeated Japan 7-5 to improve to 3-2 through five matches in the round-robin phase. Skip Gim Eun-ji delivered three points with a takeout in the eighth end, and her promotion takeout in the 10th end closed out the two-point victory.

Elsewhere, Yu Seung-eun, the bronze medalist in the women's big air snowboard event last week, qualified for the final in the women's slopestyle Sunday. Yu finished third in the qualification with 76.80 points at Livigno Snow Park in Livigno, some 140 kilometers north of Milan, safely among the top 12 athletes who will vie for medals in Tuesday's final.

Also in Livigno, freestyle skier Jung Dae-yoon was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the men's dual moguls. In the dual moguls, skiers competed side-by-side against each other in a knockout format on adjacent courses filled with snow mounds. Up against the eventual gold medalist from Canada, Mikael Kingsbury, in the quarterfinals, Jung skidded off his course and could not finish his run.

South Korea's medal tally remained at one gold, two silver and two bronze medals. The competition will wrap up next Sunday.
