Seoul: A special counsel has once again applied for an arrest warrant for former Justice Minister Park Sung-jae regarding his alleged involvement in former President Yoon Suk Yeol's unsuccessful attempt to impose martial law. The application, submitted by special counsel Cho Eun-suk's team, follows the rejection of a previous request by the court last month due to insufficient evidence.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Park is accused of playing a significant role in the martial law imposition and alleged insurrection. His actions reportedly included ordering the potential dispatch of prosecutors to a martial law-related organ, placing Korea Immigration Service officials on standby for travel bans, and instructing the Korea Correctional Service (KCS) to evaluate detention centers' capacity.

Cho's team has taken further steps by re-summoning Park, re-seizing his cell phone, and confirming additional criminal charges after the Seoul Central District Court dismissed the previous arrest warrant on October 15. Investigators have reportedly discovered a computer file indicating that the justice ministry drafted a document justifying Yoon's martial law, as stated by Cho's team.

Additionally, the team confirmed that the KCS had informed Park of the detention centers in the capital area having the capacity to accommodate approximately 3,600 additional inmates.
