Nagoya:South Korea's Mo Su-min secured a silver medal in the women's 78-kilogram kurash event at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, marking a milestone as the country's first kurash medal at these games.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Mo was defeated by Uzbekistan's Pokizakhon Kamoldinova with a score of 10-0, losing by a khalola full pointin the final held at the Aichi Prefectural Martial Arts Hall in Nagoya, Japan.
This achievement represents the first kurash medal by a female athlete since the sport was introduced to the Asian Games in 2018. Previously, South Korean male kurash wrestlers had won one silver and one bronze at the earlier Asian Games.
Kurash is a Central Asian wrestling sport where athletes aim to score by throwing opponents. A victory is declared when a khalol throw lands the opponent on their back, as ground techniques are prohibited.
