Incheon: More than 300 South Korean workers have returned home after being detained for a week by U.S. immigration authorities in Georgia. The incident, which involved workers at an electric car battery plant construction site co-run by Hyundai Motor Group and LG Energy Solution Ltd. in Bryan County, has raised questions over the diplomatic relations between South Korea and the United States.

According to Yonhap News Agency, a Korean Air chartered plane carrying 316 South Koreans and 14 foreigners landed at Incheon International Airport around 3:23 p.m. The workers were released from detention facilities in Folkston early Thursday local time, following negotiations between Seoul and Washington to secure their return.

The weeklong detention of the workers was unprecedented and caused confusion in Seoul. The South Korean government engaged in intensive efforts to ensure the release and safe return of its citizens, reflecting the importance of the bilateral ties between the two nations.
