Seoul: The government has pledged to extend proactive support to South Korean businesses aiming to partake in reconstruction projects across the Middle East, as announced by the finance ministry on Wednesday. This initiative comes as a response to the anticipated rise in infrastructure development needs in key Middle Eastern nations following the resolution of conflicts between the United States and Iran.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Finance Minister Koo Yun-cheol underscored the agenda during a meeting with other economic ministers focused on external affairs. The government revealed its strategy to assist South Korean firms in engaging with various reconstruction projects, including those related to plants, energy, transportation, logistics, and digital infrastructure in multiple countries.

The finance ministry elaborated on plans to collaborate with overseas missions and relevant organizations to pinpoint potential projects. Additionally, South Korea intends to enhance high-level exchanges with partner nations to facilitate these initiatives.

Minister Koo highlighted the resilience of the South Korean economy, which continues to recover robustly due to strong export performance, particularly in the semiconductor sector, despite ongoing external challenges. He emphasized the government's commitment to sustaining this economic momentum to enable companies to explore new growth opportunities.

"The government will strive to leverage the cooperative momentum generated through summit-level discussions to aid the international expansion of South Korean companies, thereby achieving tangible outcomes that lead to more extensive economic interactions," Koo stated.
