Seoul: South Korea's tourism agency announced plans to offer discounts on express and intercity bus fares to foreign visitors in an effort to promote travel beyond the capital region.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the Korea Tourism Organization will provide a 5,000 won (US$3.3) discount per person to 8,000 foreign visitors who utilize these bus services to travel to regional destinations. This initiative will be available for a month starting Monday and aims to improve access to regional transport while alleviating the concentration of foreign tourists in the Seoul metropolitan area.

The initiative is in collaboration with travel platforms Klook and Go Hanpass. Go Hanpass will provide additional discount coupons to bus users, while Klook will offer free eSIM services to enhance convenience for travelers.

The agency emphasized its commitment to promoting public-private partnerships to help inbound visitors experience the attractions of regional areas through the use of local transport networks like buses and railways.
