Seoul: The foreign ministry expressed "serious concern" over Israel's plan to take over Gaza City.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the ministry released a statement highlighting the potential for further deterioration of the situation in the Gaza Strip, which is already under a humanitarian crisis. The statement referred to the plan adopted by the Israeli government on Friday.
The South Korean government reiterated its support for a two-state solution and declared its opposition to any actions that could undermine this objective. The ministry urged all relevant parties to prioritize the protection of civilians by implementing an immediate ceasefire in the Israel-Gaza conflict. Additionally, it called for the release of hostages, guarantees of humanitarian access, and adherence to international laws.
