Cortina d'ampezzo: South Korea lost its final match of the mixed doubles curling tournament at the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics on Monday. Kim Seon-yeong and Jeong Yeong-seok were defeated by Kristin Skaslien and Magnus Nedregotten of Norway with a score of 8-5 at Cortina Curling Olympic Stadium, located approximately 400 kilometers northeast of Milan, concluding the round-robin stage.

According to Yonhap News Agency, South Korea finished the competition with a 3-6 record, after losing its first five matches and then securing victories in the next three. The team appeared on track for a fourth consecutive win but failed to maintain a 5-2 lead against Norway.

South Korea had been eliminated from knockout contention on Sunday night, despite consecutive victories over Estonia and Canada earlier that day. The match against Norway saw South Korea build a 3-0 lead after the first two ends. Norway then narrowed the gap to 3-2 in the third end, but Kim's perfect draw in the fourth end extended South Korea's lead to 4-2.

The advantage increased to 5-2 after Skaslien's failure to execute a takeout with her final stone. However, Norway leveled the score with three points in the sixth end, utilizing their power play effectively. In the seventh end, South Korea called a power play in an attempt to regain its lead. Despite having a chance to secure at least one point, Kim committed a violation by failing to release the stone before it touched the hog line. As a result, Norway, with two stones closer to the button, was awarded two points due to Kim's error.
