Seoul: South Korea has called on North Korea to cease the dismantling of a facility intended for reunions of separated families, located within the Mount Kumgang tourist area. The unification ministry made this appeal on Thursday, urging Pyongyang to halt its actions immediately.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Koo Byoung-sam, a spokesman for the South Korean unification ministry, expressed "strong regrets" over North Korea's actions. He stated that the ministry is considering legal measures to address what they view as an infringement on South Korea's property rights. The facility in question was the last remaining intact structure in the Mount Kumgang resort, an area that once symbolized inter-Korean reconciliation, as all other facilities in the tour zone have been demolished by North Korea.

Koo emphasized the urgency of the situation, stating, "We sternly urge North Korea to immediately stop this demolition." He further noted that North Korea should bear all responsibilities arising from this incident.
