Seoul:The South Korean presidential office has expressed "strong regret" over Ukraine's denial of an agreement with Seoul concerning the nondisclosure of the transfer of two North Korean prisoners of war (POWs) to South Korea.

According to Yonhap News Agency, South Korea's senior presidential secretary for public relations, Seong Ghi-hong, stated that the office regrets Ukraine's unilateral disclosure of the transfer. They also criticized Ukraine for falsely announcing that no nondisclosure agreement existed.

The South Korean government is contemplating additional measures in response to the situation. This dispute arose after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy revealed during a United Nations address that Ukraine had sent two captured North Korean soldiers to South Korea last year.

President Lee Jae Myung and his office assert that Ukraine violated a nondisclosure agreement intended to protect the soldiers from potential risks if their transfer was revealed. This stance is based on international law and humanitarian principles. Despite these claims, Ukrainian media reported that a source from Ukraine's presidential office denied any such confidentiality agreement with Seoul.
