Toyohashi:South Korea secured its fifth consecutive Asian Games gold medal in baseball with a 3-1 triumph over Japan.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the victory took place at the Toyohashi Municipal Baseball Stadium, approximately 85 kilometers southeast of Nagoya, on a rainy Sunday night.
South Korea's starter, Gwak Been, pitched 6 1/3 innings, allowing only one run while striking out nine batters and giving up four hits. The game was tied at 1-1 until the top of the eighth inning when Kim Do-yeong hit an infield single, providing the go-ahead RBI. Moon Bo-gyeong added an insurance run with a subsequent single.
The South Korean bullpen, consisting of relievers Jo Byeong-hyeon and Park Yeong-hyun, successfully preserved the lead, sealing the narrow victory.
