Toyota:South Korea secured a silver medal in the pistol shooting team event at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, following a critical error by one of its leading athletes.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the South Korean team, consisting of Yang Ji-in, Oh Ye-jin, and Bong Seo-rin, was a strong contender for the gold medal at the Aichi Prefectural General Shooting Gallery. The team standings were determined by the combined scores from the individual qualification round, which included both precision and rapid fire stages.

Yang Ji-in, the 2024 Olympic champion in this event, experienced a setback during the rapid fire stage when she failed to fire her 21st shot within the three-second time limit. This shot was recorded as a miss, significantly impacting her score and dropping her from first to 16th place in the individual standings with 575 points. Consequently, South Korea fell from first to fourth in the team standings. Bong Seo-rin's performance, however, helped the team recover to second place, securing a silver medal with 1,735 points, narrowly trailing behind China's 1,743 points.

Oh Ye-jin scored 579 points, placing 10th individually, while Yang finished 17th. Despite leading all shooters with 27 inner-10s, Yang was visibly shaken after the event, expressing regret for her mistake that cost the team a potential gold medal.

In the final, Bong Seo-rin was eliminated first after scoring 11 hits. She struggled in the series of shots, initially tying for sixth place before dropping to last. Xiao Jiaruixuan of China won the gold medal, with Esha Singh of India taking silver, and Kim Hyon-suk of North Korea securing the bronze after a shoot-off.
