Seoul: South Korea and Morocco on Thursday discussed ways to expand bilateral economic cooperation, including the potential launch of negotiations for an economic partnership agreement (EPA). Trade Minister Cheong In-kyo met with his Moroccan counterpart, Karim Zidane, who is on a visit to South Korea for an investment roadshow for the African nation. According to Yonhap News Agency, during the meeting, Cheong expressed hope for the prompt initiation of talks on a bilateral EPA, adding that South Korean firms are interested in participating in a wide array of projects in Morocco, including those in the renewable energy sector. Zidane agreed on the need for the EPA, noting that Morocco wishes to attract South Korean firms to cutting-edge sectors, including automobiles, aviation, and shipbuilding. At the Morocco Now Roadshow, also held Thursday, major South Korean businesses, including LG Energy Solution Ltd., Samsung E and A Co., and LX International Corp., explored potential areas of cooperation with the Af rican nation, the ministry added.
