Nashville: Captain Son Heung-min came off the bench to score in his second consecutive match, as South Korea played Mexico to a 2-2 draw in a men's football friendly at Geodis Park. The match saw South Korea nearly clinch their first win over Mexico since February 2006, only for Santiago Gimenez to score a late equalizer for Mexico.

According to Yonhap News Agency, South Korea's Son and striker Oh Hyeon-gyu each scored in the second half, after Raul Jimenez had given Mexico a first-half lead. Son, who had previously scored and assisted in a 2-0 win over the United States, now stands at 53 international goals, five short of the all-time national team record held by Cha Bum-kun.

South Korea will host their next friendly matches against Brazil and Paraguay at Seoul World Cup Stadium in October. Coach Hong Myung-bo made significant changes to the lineup from the previous match against the United States, introducing nine new players, including midfielder Jens Castrop in his first start.

The match began with Mexico dominating possession, while South Korea capitalized on counterattacking opportunities. Despite missing early chances, South Korea equalized through Son in the second half and took the lead with Oh's goal. However, Mexico's Gimenez secured a draw with a stoppage-time goal, denying South Korea a historic victory.
