Seoul: Teen snowboarder Choi Gaon has once again clinched a World Cup title in the women's halfpipe, marking her second consecutive victory in as many weeks.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Choi emerged victorious with a score of 94.50 points during the latest International Ski Federation Snowboard World Cup event held in Copper Mountain, Colorado. The 17-year-old had previously captured a World Cup halfpipe title in China the previous week.

In the competition, Sena Tomita from Japan secured second place with a score of 88.75 points, while Bea Kim from the United States followed in third with 75.25 points. Notably absent from the final was Chloe Kim, a two-time Olympic gold medalist and Korean American athlete, who was sidelined due to an undisclosed injury. Despite her absence, Choi and Kim had both achieved top qualification scores in their respective groups earlier in the week.

This recent victory marks Choi's third career World Cup title, bolstering her aspirations for a podium finish at the upcoming Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics, which are just two months away. Chloe Kim's injury prevented her from participating in what was supposed to be her only competition before the Olympics, raising questions about how her absence might impact her preparations for a possible third consecutive Olympic gold.

The upcoming halfpipe World Cup is scheduled for January in Calgary, Canada.
