Slugger’s Secret to Longevity: Staying Even-Keeled

Daegu: Samsung Lions designated hitter (DH) Choi Hyoung-woo has remained productive at the plate in his early 40s, even with many of his contemporaries having long been retired. And Choi attributes his longevity not to anything he does physically, but to his mental approach.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Choi won the Golden Glove at DH on Tuesday, being honored as the best in his position in the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) for the eighth time. The honor came exactly a week before his 42nd birthday, and Choi broke his own record - set in 2024 - as the oldest Golden Glove winner. By earning 309 out of 316 votes cast by members of the media, Choi was also the top Golden Glove vote getter for this year.
