Hanoi: SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won has engaged in discussions with Vietnam's Party General Secretary To Lam, focusing on enhancing cooperation in the energy sector and strengthening the overall partnership between SK Group and Vietnam, officials reported on Sunday.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Chey met with the Vietnamese senior official in Hanoi on Friday, accompanied by leaders from SK Innovation E and S Co., SK Energy Co., SKC Ltd., and SK Earth On Co. During the meeting, Chey expressed his group's intention to establish stronger ties with Vietnam in renewable energy, resources, and relevant industries. This collaboration aims to support the sustainable economic development of Vietnam.

SK Group's initiatives in Vietnam are centered around the development of liquefied natural gas (LNG) infrastructure, hydrogen energy, small modular reactors (SMRs), and artificial intelligence (AI) data centers. These areas are seen as crucial for the future growth of both SK Group and Vietnam's economy.

In response, To Lam acknowledged the significant role of SK and other South Korean companies in Vietnam's development. He emphasized the need for continued collaboration between the two countries, noting that South Korea is one of Vietnam's major investment and trade partners.
