Seoul: Singer and actor Cha Eun-woo announced that he has settled all taxes related to allegations of large-scale tax evasion. Cha, who is currently serving his mandatory military service, addressed the issue via social media, expressing regret and apologizing for any disappointment and confusion caused by the controversy.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Cha was notified in January by the National Tax Service of additional income tax assessments that exceeded 20 billion won (approximately US$13.6 million), which led to suspicions of tax evasion. At that time, Cha apologized and assured his cooperation with the tax authorities. In his recent statement, he reiterated his respect for the tax service's procedures and confirmed that he had paid the outstanding taxes to prevent further confusion.

Cha emphasized the weight of the issue, acknowledging the support he has received from fans and the public. He stated, "If there was anything that I didn't properly take care of, that responsibility also falls on me. I will not evade it by saying 'I didn't know' or 'It was someone else's judgment.'"

The allegations also included claims that Cha benefited from a lower tax rate by signing a management contract with a company established by his mother. Cha explained that during a period of career transitions, the company was set up by his mother to ensure a stable professional path. He admitted to oversight in managing the situation, taking full responsibility for any lapses rather than attributing them to his family or company.
