Seoul: Unification Minister Chung Dong-young announced that South Korea sees no reason to advocate for a United Nations resolution condemning human rights violations in North Korea. Chung suggested that pursuing such a resolution could clash with South Korea's commitment to avoid hostile actions against Pyongyang.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Seoul is contemplating the possibility of not co-sponsoring the annual human rights resolution against North Korea, which is slated for adoption at the U.N. Human Rights Council later this month. Chung noted that North Korea perceives the resolution as a significant hostile policy directed toward itself, prompting South Korea to reconsider its stance.

The minister stressed the importance of adhering to commitments aimed at peaceful coexistence with North Korea. He highlighted the significance of honoring pledges not to engage in hostile acts toward Pyongyang as part of efforts to maintain a stable and non-confrontational relationship.
