Science Minister Bae Kyung-hoon Engages with Tech Leaders on Cybersecurity Concerns


Seoul: Science Minister Bae Kyung-hoon on Thursday convened with chief executive officers and security representatives from leading online platform operators to evaluate their cybersecurity preparedness. Bae’s meeting, held in the wake of several high-profile data breaches affecting local businesses, including mobile carriers, aimed to address these pressing security concerns.



According to Yonhap News Agency, the discussions involved prominent companies such as Naver Corp., Kakao Corp., Coupang, and Woowa Brothers Corp. Bae emphasized the far-reaching consequences of recent cybersecurity incidents, highlighting potential financial damages to individuals and the threat to South Korea’s credibility on a global scale.



During the meeting, the science minister urged the participating companies to reinforce their security measures and prioritize information protection. Bae expressed his hope that the discussions would prompt management to reassess their information security strategies and increase investment in this critical area.
