Samsung SDS and LG CNS Secure Exclusive Sales Rights for ChatGPT Edu in South Korea

Seoul: Samsung SDS Co. and LG CNS Co. have successfully secured exclusive sales rights for ChatGPT Edu in South Korea, marking a significant milestone in their partnerships with OpenAI. These developments were announced by the companies on Monday, as they aim to enhance AI services in educational institutions across the region.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Samsung SDS, the IT service division of Samsung Group, has signed a reseller partnership agreement with OpenAI. This collaboration will allow Samsung SDS to provide ChatGPT Edu to various educational institutions, including schools and universities. ChatGPT Edu is a specialized version of ChatGPT, designed to offer artificial intelligence services to students, faculty, researchers, and campus operations.

Through this strategic partnership, Samsung SDS intends to broaden its outreach to schools, publishers, and other educational entities that are interested in incorporating generative AI into their educational and research frameworks. This initiative follows a prior agreement in December, where Samsung SDS obtained reselling rights for ChatGPT Enterprise.

In a parallel move, LG CNS, an IT subsidiary of LG Electronics, has also formed a separate partnership with OpenAI. LG CNS plans to implement ChatGPT Edu programs in universities located in Seoul and its surrounding areas. Furthermore, LG CNS will establish the OpenAI Launch Center, which is dedicated to providing consulting services and technical support to educational institutions.
