Daegu:The Samsung Lions are set to host the Kia Tigers in a crucial Game 5 of the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) postseason, with a spot in the championship series on the line. The game will take place at 2 p.m. on Sunday at Daegu Samsung Lions Park.
According to Yonhap News Agency, both teams will rely on their right-handed pitchers, who previously faced each other in the ongoing postseason. The Lions will start their Panamanian ace Ariel Jurado, while the Tigers will counter with American pitcher Adam Oller.
The previous encounter between these pitchers occurred in Game 2, where the Lions emerged victorious with an 8-3 win. Jurado secured his first career postseason victory by allowing only two runs on five hits over 6 2/3 innings. In contrast, Oller struggled, conceding five runs on five hits, including a home run, in 4 2/3 innings.
The Lions plan to leverage their left-handed hitters, including Koo Ja-wook, Lewin Diaz, and Choi Hyoung-woo, against Oller, who has faced challenges in Daegu this season. Right-handed Lee Jae-hyeon, who had a home run and three RBIs against Oller in the regular season, will also be a key player for the Lions. The winner of this decisive matchup will advance to the Korean Series, set to begin on Tuesday against the regular-season champions, KT Wiz.
