Samsung Heavy Secures 770.1 Billion-Won Deal for LNG Carriers from Oceania

Seoul: Samsung Heavy Industries Co. announced on Monday that it has finalized a 770.1 billion-won (US$510.4 million) agreement to construct two liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers for an undisclosed shipping company in Oceania. These vessels are expected to be delivered by September 2028, as stated in a regulatory filing by the company.

According to Yonhap News Agency, this latest contract boosts Samsung Heavy's total ship orders to $2.9 billion for the current year. This achievement represents approximately 21 percent of the company's annual order target, which is set at $13.9 billion. The company has emphasized its ongoing strategy to concentrate on high-margin vessels, including container ships and LNG carriers, throughout the year.
