Seoul: Samsung Heavy Industries Co. announced that it has secured orders amounting to 1.3 trillion won (US$912.9 million) for the construction of five vessels for three international shipping companies.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the company will construct two liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers for a shipping company based in Bermuda, with delivery expected in January 2029. Additionally, Samsung Heavy has secured a separate deal with an Asian shipping company to build two very large ethane carriers (VLECs). Furthermore, they will deliver a crude vessel to a client in Liberia.
Samsung Heavy currently has an order backlog consisting of 134 ships, with a total value estimated at $28.7 billion.
