Seoul: Samsung Heavy Industries Co., a major shipyard in South Korea, announced it has secured a contract valued at 485 billion won (US$329 million) to construct a liquid natural gas (LNG) floating storage regasification unit (FSRU).
According to Yonhap News Agency, the agreement is with an undisclosed Asian client and involves the construction of a 170,000-metric-ton vessel. Samsung Heavy has scheduled the delivery of this unit for February 15, 2029.
In the initial four months of the current year, Samsung Heavy has achieved deals totaling $3.4 billion for the construction of 17 vessels. This includes two container ships and four LNG carriers.
