Seoul: Samsung Electronics Co. announced Thursday the commencement of the first commercial shipment of its sixth-generation high bandwidth memory (HBM), known as HBM4. This positions Samsung as the first company globally to commercialize this advanced chip, which offers enhanced performance for artificial intelligence (AI) computing.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the South Korean tech company stated that this shipment will help secure an early leadership position in the HBM4 market. The shipment occurred approximately a week ahead of the initially anticipated schedule.
Following the successful market introduction of HBM4, Samsung disclosed plans to begin sampling HBM4E in the latter half of 2026. Additionally, custom HBM samples tailored to customer specifications are expected to be available in 2027.
