Las Vegas: Samsung Display Co., a subsidiary of Samsung Electronics Co., is set to showcase a new lineup of foldable and organic light-emitting diode (OLED) displays at CES 2025, marking its strategic expansion into IT and automotive markets. The company aims to demonstrate its technological advancements beyond the realms of smartphones, targeting the growing demand for innovative display solutions in various sectors.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Samsung Display plans to feature its flagship foldable panels for IT devices and advanced display solutions for vehicles at its showroom during the four-day U.S. tech event. This annual exhibition in Las Vegas will commence on Tuesday, providing a platform for the company to highlight its expertise in the automotive and artificial intelligence fields.
The exhibition will include the unveiling of the world's first 18.1-inch foldable monitor, alongside other innovative products such as slidable and multi-foldable displays. The 18.1-inch foldable panel, designed for IT devices, offers a dual-tablet-like experience when unfolded and transforms into a 13.1-inch laptop display with touch screen capabilities when folded.
In addition to IT devices, visitors will have the opportunity to explore OLED-enabled tablets and laptops. These devices are celebrated for their lower power consumption and superior color reproduction, making them particularly suitable for outdoor use.
Samsung Display is also making strides in the automotive sector, showcasing a range of products aimed at enhancing driver assistance features and the visual appeal of vehicle interiors. A significant highlight is the demonstration of cockpits equipped with under-panel camera (UPC) technology. Originally developed for foldable screens to ensure a seamless full-screen experience, UPC technology is being adapted for use in vehicles, marking its debut in the automotive industry.
