Seoul: Samsung C and T Corp., the construction arm of Samsung Group, announced that its joint venture with Australia's DT Infrastructure has secured a 940 billion-won (US$635.7 million) project to build high-voltage power transmission facilities in Australia.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the joint venture, named TasVic Greenlink, signed a contract with Marinus Link, the project operator, to construct a 750-megawatt high-voltage direct current (HVDC) electricity interconnector. This interconnector will link the Australian states of Tasmania and Victoria.

TasVic Greenlink is a collaborative 50-50 joint venture between Samsung C and T and DT Infrastructure. Samsung C and T highlighted that its established track record in delivering infrastructure projects both in Australia and globally was a key factor in being selected by the project operator.

The company has been actively expanding its presence in the Australian energy market, following a previous 200 billion-won agreement for the Gnarwarre battery energy storage project in July.
