Seoul: Samsung Electronics Co. and its largest labor union are set to resume government-led wage mediation talks on Wednesday morning, as announced by a state labor dispute resolution body. This comes after the two parties were unable to come to an agreement during two days of extensive negotiations earlier this week. According to Yonhap News Agency, the National Labor Relations Commission indicated that the second round of mediation talks concluded at 12:30 a.m., with plans for a third round to commence at 10 a.m. Labor and management continue to be at odds over performance-based bonuses, which are tied to the earnings from Samsung's artificial intelligence (AI)-focused semiconductor business. This dispute is unfolding against the backdrop of an ongoing global memory supercycle, adding complexity to the negotiations.
