S-Oil Reports Significant Turnaround with Q2 Profit

S-oil: S-Oil, South Korea's third-largest refiner by sales, on Monday reported a second-quarter net profit of 514.6 billion won (US$359 million), shifting from a loss of 66.8 billion won a year earlier. Operating income for the April-June period was 965 billion won, compared with a loss of 344 billion won a year ago, the company, whose largest shareholder is Saudi Aramco, said in a regulatory filing. Sales also rose 40.9 percent to 11.34 trillion won.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the earnings fell behind market expectations. The average estimate of net profit by analysts stood at 612.5 billion won, according to a survey by Yonhap Infomax, the financial data firm of Yonhap News Agency.
