S. Korean Teams Struggle at Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics 4-Man Bobsleigh

Seoul: Two South Korean bobsleigh teams found themselves outside medal contention at the halfway point of the four-man event during the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics. The event took place at the Cortina Sliding Centre, located 260 kilometers northeast of Milan.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the team led by pilot Kim Jin-su was in eighth place after the first two runs, recording a total time of 1:49.50. Kim and his team, consisting of pushmen Kim Sun-wook and Kim Hyeong-geun, along with brakeman Lee Geon-u, completed their first run in 54.60 seconds and their second in 54.90 seconds. The final standings will be decided after two more runs on Sunday, which is also the last day of the Olympics.

Kim's team previously secured a World Cup bronze medal on the same track in November, fueling hopes for South Korea to secure its second-ever bobsleigh medal, following their four-man silver in 2018. However, German teams dominated Saturday's performance. Johannes Lochner's team led with a time of 1:48.61, followed by Francesco Friedrich's team at 1:49.04. Adam Ammour's team secured third place with a time of 1:49.20.

Another South Korean team, piloted by Suk Young-jin, finished in 23rd place with a time of 1:50.73. Suk's team, comprising Chae Byung-do, Chun Su-hyun, and Lee Do-yun, clocked 55.51 seconds on their first run and 55.22 seconds on their second run.
