Manila: A South Korean man who was kidnapped by unidentified individuals in Manila last week has been released safely, as confirmed by Seoul's foreign ministry on Tuesday. The man, in his 40s, was abducted while traveling with an acquaintance in the Pasay area of Metro Manila. The kidnappers forced him into their vehicle, leaving his companion behind.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the abduction occurred last Friday, and about 18 hours later, the kidnappers contacted another acquaintance of the victim, demanding a ransom for his release. The South Korean foreign ministry reported that the man was released earlier on Tuesday and is in good health.

Ministry officials stated that upon receiving the report from their embassy in the Philippines, a task force was established to work towards securing the man's release. This effort involved collaboration with the National Police Agency, Philippine police, and other local authorities.

The motive and further details surrounding the incident are still under investigation, officials added. The ministry emphasized its commitment to ensuring the safety of its citizens abroad and thanked the relevant authorities for their cooperation in resolving the situation.
